Church to bid farewell
to longtime pastor

ALDEN – Members of the Alden United Methodist Church will hold a farewell service Sunday for their pastor of the past 11 years, the Rev. Diana K. Otterbacher at 9:30 a.m. at the church, 16532 Route 173.

Students of the Tufo School of Music will perform, and a potluck luncheon will be served.

Everyone is invited for the sendoff.

The United Methodist’s Elgin District superintendent, the Rev. Oscar Carrasco, has appointed Otterbacher to Zion United Methodist Church in Hampshire beginning July 1.

She earned her Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston.

Before entering the ministry, Otterbacher was a Sunday school teacher at Hebron United Methodist Church, was twice elected to the Hebron Village Board, created a weekly column for the Northwest Herald called, “Hearing From Hebron,” was a substitute teacher for District 19 schools, and was a social worker for Project Success.
