Two injured in Lakemoor crash

LAKEMOOR – Two people were injured Monday when a Lakemoor woman pulled her Mazda 6 onto Route 120 and into the path of a trash truck, police said.

Carol Hunter, 47, was driving her 2009 Mazda south on Sullivan Lake Boulevard and tried to turn onto the westbound lanes of Route 120 about 5:45 a.m. Monday.

A Groot trash truck being driven west by 41-year-old Donald Decker of Salem, Wis., struck the Mazda, Lakemoor Police Chief William Kushner said. Ambulances from the Wauconda Fire District and McHenry Township Fire Protection District took the drivers to Centegra Hospital – McHenry.

Both were treated and released, said Kim Kubiak, senior public relations coordinator for Centegra Health System.

There is no signal light at Sullivan Lake Boulevard and Route 120. Motorists on the boulevard have a stop sign; Route 120 traffic does not stop. Westbound Route 120 was backed up in Lakemoor for less than an hour while emergency crews cleared the wreckage.

Kushner said traffic citations were pending against Hunter.
