CHICAGO – Chris Sale starts for the White Sox today versus the Kansas City Royals, a team the South Siders have lost six straight games against.
Sale (15-6, 2.93 ERA) has won seven consecutive games at U.S. Cellular Field during which he owns a 1.17 ERA with opponents hitting .173. Left-hander Bruce Chen (10-11, 5.28) takes the mound for the Royals. The Sox still hold a one-game lead over Detroit in the AL Central.
Third baseman Kevin Youkilis (birth of his son) and Adam Dunn (right oblique) are not in today's lineup. Youkilis should return either tomorrow or Monday, however the Sox will not rush Dunn back. With their precautions Dunn could miss the four-game series versus the Tigers which begins Monday.
In their last eight games, the Sox are hitting .203 with runners in scoring position.
