Fox River Grove charity blood and food drive set for Nov. 3

FOX RIVER GROVE – The Fox River Grove Fire Protection District and Flight for Life – McHenry Base will host the third annual Seven Angels Memorial Blood and Food Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3.

The event at Fox River Grove Fire Station 1, 411 Algonquin Road, will commemorate the 17th anniversary of the school bus-train crash of Oct. 25, 1995.

Blood donors will have the opportunity to meet one of the 1985 Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears, Jim Morrissey, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Those who sign up early and donate will have their name entered in a raffle for a pair of Super Bowl tickets.

Firefighters will grill hamburgers and hot dogs for donors, and Flight for Life will provide helicopter cookies.

Each donor also will receive a commemorative T-shirt.

Those who bring a nonperishable food item for the local food pantry will receive a raffle ticket for a drawing to win a Flight for Life Pink Heals T-shirt signed by some of the 1985 Bears.

Flight for Life Pink Heals T-shirts and sweatshirts will be available for purchase to help replace the radiator on the Pink Heals firetruck Jessica.

To donate, call Deputy Chief Jim Kreher at 847-639-9232 or contact Lifesource at 877-543-3768 and use Sponsor Code 598C.
