Cardinals LB Schofield out for season after injuring ankle

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona Cardinals have lost starting outside linebacker O’Brien Schofield for the season with an injured left ankle.

Schofield was injured in Sunday’s 31-17 loss at Green Bay. Initially, it was thought it probably was only a sprain but further examination uncovered ligament damage that requires surgery.

Quintin Groves replaced Schofield in the game and is expected to do so when the team resumes play Nov. 21 at Atlanta. The Cardinals have a bye this week.

Schofield, a fourth-round draft pick out of Wisconsin in 2010, has 34 tackles and four sacks this season.

Ex-NFL receiver Boston pleads guilty: At West Palm Beach, Fla., former NFL wide receiver David Boston could face nearly three years in prison for punching a woman last year.

Palm Beach County prosecutors say the 34-year-old Boston pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated battery. He faces up to 35 months in prison at a Dec. 7 hearing.

Authorities say Boston had been drinking at a Boca Raton home last November when he punched a woman twice in the head, leaving a wound requiring 10 stitches.

Boston played at Ohio State and went to the Pro Bowl with the Arizona Cardinals in 2001. He also played for San Diego and Miami before injuries and legal problems ended his NFL career.

Boston’s attorney, Guy Fronstin, says his client is extremely remorseful for his actions and accepted full responsibility by entering a guilty plea.

Steelers WR Brown likely out: At Pittsburgh, the Steelers have spent all season juggling running backs based on who’s healthy and who’s hot.

Now it’s the wide receivers’ turn.

The Steelers will likely be without receiver Antonio Brown when they host reeling Kansas City next Monday night. Brown sprained his right ankle early in a 24-20 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday and coach Mike Tomlin doesn’t anticipate Brown being available.

Brown leads the Steelers (5-3) with 42 receptions and is second on the team with 499 yards receiving. If he can’t go, third-year wideout Emmanuel Sanders will likely take Brown’s place in the starting lineup.
