Ignorance of majority

To the Editor:

The recent election demonstrates the ignorance of our voting majority. The president has no authority to raise or lower tax rates. All tax bills must originate in Congress, specifically the House of Representatives. So all of the voters who believe President Barack Obama has a mandate to raise taxes are wrong.

While you are doing this, you might want to look at the Constitution.

Also, you just might want to reacquaint yourselves with the laws of economics (i.e. supply and demand). They can only be ignored or manipulated temporarily. Obama cannot regulate or legislate the economy into prosperity. Prosperity can only be market driven. Capitalism is boss. Economic laws cannot be fundamentally changed.

To letter writer Walter Enoch (Nov. 14), unemployment was 7.8 percent at the end of President George Bush’s term. Today, unemployment is, surprise, 7.8 percent. Take home pay is down about $3,000 per family.

Another letter writer’s bullying comments about racism are not going to make collectivism lead us to prosperity.

All of this for a mere $6 trillion in new debt. What a bargain.
