Cary home damaged in morning fire

CARY – A Cary home was left uninhabitable after an early morning fire, according to the Cary Fire Protection District.

Crews were called to the 200 block of Machelle Drive at around 8:30 a.m. for a report of a structure fire, according to a news release. Firefighters arrived to find a two-story house on fire and smoke coming from the home.

Members of the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Fox River Grove, Nunda Rural, Crystal Lake, Lake Zurich, Wauconda, McHenry Township, Carpentersville and Lakewood fire departments assisted with the blaze, which included transporting water to and from the area due to a lack of fire hydrants.

The house was severely damaged by the smoke and flames, the news release states. No one was injured or inside the home at the time of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
