McHenry offers holiday lights recycling program

The city of McHenry, in conjunction with Elgin Recycling, is sponsoring a holiday lights recycling program.

Acceptable lighting consists of mini-lights (Italian lights), C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights, and extension cords. All colors and lengths will be accepted.

Garland, live greens, wreaths or other nonrecyclable items will not be accepted in the program.   

The city will accept holiday lighting through Jan. 31.

Recycle centers will be open Monday through Friday through Jan 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the McHenry Municipal Center, 333 S. Green St., and from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Public Works site, 1415 Industrial Drive.
