Giving their time

To the Editor:

Members of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program made the holidays a little nicer this year when they delivered meals and gifts to McHenry County seniors and others in need. Donations of Thanksgiving meals provided through The Salvation Army and willing volunteers delivered food baskets given by The Chapel.

During the busy season, many more RSVP volunteers gave their time to deliver gifts provided by Holy Apostle, “Be a Santa to a Senior” (Home Instead), and the more than 50 baskets that were donated and created by a huge group of volunteers.

The following individuals patiently sorted and delivered many meals and packages to those in need: Pat from Algonquin, Candy from Cary, Don and Rosemary, Tom, Dan, Alice, Tom and Marian from Crystal Lake, John from Harvard, Burl from Huntley, Shelley from Island Lake, Edna, Dennis, Pat, Paul, Richard, Stephanie, Kathy, Rich and Margaret from McHenry, Dean, Pam from Richmond, Pam, JoAnn and Glen from Wonder Lake, Barbara and Mike from Woodstock.

Thanks to all these giving folks who took time out of their busy schedules to help others. Your service to others continues to be a wonderful example of what we should be as a society.

RSVP is always looking for more help with this kind of project, as well as ongoing assignments helping local nonprofit organizations. When you are ready to get involved, please give us a call at 1-800-339-3200. Ask for Debbie.
