McHENRY – A detached garage was destroyed by a fire that started about 3:05 p.m. today.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District had the fire at 5120 Willow Lane under control in about 15 minutes, Lt. Dave Harwood said.

Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby houses, but "wind was a huge factor in this fire," Harwood said.

The fire did burn some nearby electrical lines.

No one was hurt, Harwood said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and it is not believed to be suspicious, said Lt. Tom Ruggero.

The fire district estimates the total loss to be about $15,000.
