Revisiting values

To the Editor:

Ban guns to stop murders. Ban planes to stop disasters. Ban cars to stop DUIs. Ban highways to stop accidents.

How about revisiting values. Lately, it’s offensive to worship or even mention God. It’s politically incorrect to repeat the Pledge of Allegiance. You call your mother Ralph and your father ... (who?). Evening homework has degenerated into Baby Mamas and computer perversion, and that’s only at dinner.

They gun you down in the street like it’s free, but don’t mention the neighborhood, it might stigmatize you. Food stamps have marginalized an entire society with government services superseding work ethic.

Consumer prices and taxes soar to feed the insatiable demand for power and “I want mine.” Criticism turns neighbors into combatants where others run to find cover in another country. Rejecting socialism labels you a traitor, and who just lip-synced the National Anthem? Your parent’s dreams are lost, and I refuse to report home, they wouldn’t recognize me.
