To the Editor:
McHenry has been home for 36 years. We have seen considerable growth during this time, most of which has been positive.
However, there are serious concerns regarding the guidance of the town under the current administration. Walmart moving to Johnsburg, vacant buildings on Routes 31 and 120, secondhand stores, and quick-cash-pay-loan stores are some of the products of this leadership.
The city recently spent over $4 million for a 50-year-old building that is now a mishmash public works garage. Who benefitted from this? Certainly not the taxpayers of McHenry.
When Steve Cuda was elected mayor in 1993, McHenry had cash reserves under $300,000. He left office eight years later with a reserve over $5 million.
McHenry can do better. Vote for Steve Cuda for mayor. His only agenda is what is best for McHenry. We need local government which rewards good ideas and not just good friends and relatives.
