Two injured in Crystal Lake accident

Traffic was slowed Wednesday morning after a two-car accident at the intersection of South Virginia Road and James R. Rakow Road in Crystal Lake.

Two people suffered non life-threatening injuries in the crash and were taken to local hospitals, according to Crystal Lake Police Cmdr. Dan Dziewior.

The two drivers, ages 71 and 62, colided nearly head-on in the middle of the intersection. Both drivers thought they had the right-of-way, Dziewior said.

Charges are pending as Crystal Lake Police try to find a witness who could recall the stop light pattern.

The accident was contained to the middle of the intersection and traffic was not closed.
