CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is expected to speak at the funeral of acclaimed film critic Roger Ebert. The widow of the Pulitzer Prize-winning movie reviewer, Chaz Ebert, is also expected to speak at the service getting underway Monday in Chicago.
Ebert died last week at age 70 after a long battle with cancer. He worked for the Chicago Sun-Times for more than 40 years.
There will be another chance for the public to pay tribute to Ebert. Organizers are planning a memorial for Thursday evening at the Chicago Theater. It will include music, moments from the TV show "At the Movies" and personal tributes.
Thursday's memorial is open to the public, but seating must be reserved in advance. Organizers request the public email rsvp(at)ebertpresents.com to reserve a seat.
