Mulcahy wins presidency

LAKE IN THE HILLS – Village Trustee Paul Mulcahy will become the new village leader in May.

According to unofficial vote totals Tuesday, Mulcahy had 862 votes and Bill Dustin had 398 votes.

Mulcahy will replace Village President Ed Plaza, who decided not to run for a fourth term as village president.

Mulcahy, a retired postal worker, served as trustee from 1997 to 2001, when he lost re-election. He then served for five years as chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission before being re-elected to the Village Board in 2007.

Mulcahy’s term as a trustee is set to expire in 2015, leaving him to appoint someone to the board.

Also, in Tuesday’s election, Trustees Robert Huckins, Denise Barreto and Stephen Harlfinger were re-elected. They all beat out challenger Ken Tentler.
