Lake in the Hills men arrested on drug-related charges

Two men have been arrested for several drug-related charges after crack cocaine and heroin were found in their Lake in the Hills home, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

A total of 26 charges have been filed against William Harris, 33, and Michael Thomas, 32, both of 104 Quail Run.

An investigation was recently launched into possible heroin and crack cocaine sales taking place in the Lake in the Hills area after several residents reported suspicious activities taking place at the home, Undersheriff Andrew Zinke said.

A search warrant was later obtained and executed on Wednesday at the residence, according to a news release. That search netted 3 grams of crack cocaine, 24 grams of cannabis and 9 grams of heroin valued at approximately $2,415.

Two digital scales, packaging materials, drug paraphernalia, a 2004 Chevrolet Impala and $1,400 in cash were also seized.

Harris was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a park, six counts of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of delivery of a controlled substance.

He was also charged with single counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a park, possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis.

Thomas was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a park and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a park, possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Members of the sheriff’s office, Lake in the Hills Police Department, and Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshals Service assisted with the investigation.

Harris and Thomas remained at the McHenry County Jail on Thursday afternoon on $600,000 and $300,000 bonds, respectively.
