Ill. gunman thought killings were only a nightmare

WHEATON – A man who has pled guilty to gunning down three members of a suburban Chicago family said a confused mental state at the time left him unsure whether the killings were real or only a nightmare.

Jacob Nodarse told a courtroom he “couldn’t tell the difference between reality and nightmares.”

Nodarse has pled guilty but mentally ill in the killings, which took place in March 2010 in Darien.

His testimony Friday was part of the trial of another suspect, Johnny Borizov.

Prosecutors said Borizov wanted his ex-girlfriend, Angela Kramer, dead over of a child custody dispute.

He’s accused of coercing Nodarse into the plot, in which the woman’s parents and brother were killed. Angela Kramer escaped injury by hiding in a closet.
