To the Editor:
In regard to Emily Coleman's March 26 article, "Residents wonder how project got so far," I take offense at the criticism of the McHenry Fire Protection District.
We are a unique fire department, saving McHenry Township citizens millions of dollars by operating with part-time personnel who are paid full time by other fire districts with a minimum amount of full-time employees.
The present trustees are very qualified with years of experience. They are committed to have the best-manned and best-equipped fire department possible, while saving the taxpayers all the money they can.
Our board of trustees is the envy of all the fire districts in McHenry County. Our fire department is the best in the state of Illinois, possibly the U.S. If it's not broke, don't try to fix it. It's easy to criticize when you don't know what you're talking about.
