To the Editor:
Mercy Health System has close to 900 nursing partners throughout Wisconsin and Illinois.
May 6-12 is National Nurses Week. During this very special week, we wish nurses everywhere a very heartfelt thank you, especially our dedicated Mercy nurses.
Year after year, nurses are voted the most trusted profession in America because of their special relationship with the patients, families and communities they serve.
Advocacy, education, prevention of illness, return to wellness, and alleviation of suffering are the primary responsibilities of the nursing profession.
Each year, our nurses provide care to more than 1 million Mercy Health System patients.
Mercy nurses work in our small and large clinics and focus on education and maintaining the health of our patients. They work in our hospitals, providing nursing care to patients with complex medical diseases, or those who are severely injured by trauma. They work in the most complex specialty procedure areas. Most importantly, they are there to comfort and hold the hands of those who need it the most.
I am very proud of the exceptional care the nurses at Mercy provide. Because of their warmth, kindness and compassionate work, our patients receive healing that transforms their lives.
On behalf of the entire Mercy Health System, we thank you Mercy nurses.
We are proud of your passion for nursing excellence, and are inspired by the many ways you make a difference in the lives of our patients and families.
Vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer, Mercy Health System
