JOHNSBURG – A Johnsburg home was damaged during a fire on Friday morning, according to the McHenry Township Fire Protection District.

Crews were called to the 1800 block of West May Avenue for a report of a structure fire at around 6 a.m., according to a news release. Firefighters arrived and found smoke coming from the second floor windows of a two-story home in that area.

A partially extinguished fire was later confined to a second-floor bedroom, the news release states. There was minor smoke damage throughout the second floor.

The damaged was estimated at about $9,000.

Residents at the home were treated and released for smoke inhalation at the scene.

A smoke detector alerted occupants of the fire, authorities said.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally.

The investigation is ongoing.
