Food pantry recognition

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Grafton Food Pantry Board of Directors, we would like to recognize several outstanding Huntley High School students.

In 2012,a freshman named Ryan Czarnecki conducted a homeroom food drive at his high school that resulted in collecting 1,000 food items. This April, he approached the pantryagain andproposed a one-week food drive at Marlowe Middle School and a one-week food drive at Huntley High School.

This resulted inalmost 3,000 fooditems being collected. His entire family pitched in to transport the food. Thiswas an amazing effort by a young man whoepitomizes dedication tocommunity service.

In addition, Grafton Food Pantry recently conducted a Personal CareDrive at the Huntley Jewel and the Huntley and Lake in the Hills Walgreens.

The commitment of members of the Huntley Football Program, the Huntley High School National Honor Society and the Community Service Clubwas inspiring. The enthusiasm of the participants made this effort a huge success and provided many greatly needed itemsfor our clients. Weappreciateour local businesses allowing us this opportunity.

Thank you to thefaculty at Huntley High School and at Marlowe Middle School, the students and their families.

To all of those generous shoppers who contributed to our efforts, you truly made a difference. Working together, I know we can end hunger in our community.
