LAKE IN THE HILLS – Village officials will offer tips for handling property maintenance issues and getting permits for home improvement projects at an open house next week.

The event will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16 at the village’s Safety Education Center, 1109 Crystal Lake Road, Lake in the Hills.

Officials from the village’s Community Development Department will give a presentation on Lake in the Hill’s property maintenance regulations, how to file a complaint, procedures on addressing violations, and how to deal with maintenance issues at foreclosed homes.

“This is a proactive way to educate residents,” Dan Olson, director of community development.

Residents will also get a chance to ask questions about home improvement projects and permit requirements. Beverages and snacks will be provided.
