The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for McHenry County until 3 a.m. Monday.

In a hazardous weather outlook, the weather service said scattered thunderstorms may produce wind gusts up to 65 mph, hail that is one-inch in diameter, heavy rain, and cloud to ground lightning.

There is a chance of thunderstorms in the overnight hours, first across north central Illinois, and then spreading east to northeast Illinois toward daybreak, the weather service said.

There could be between a quarter and half of an inch of rainfall, according to the weather service.
