Some delays expected on Johnsburg Road, engineering firm says

JOHNSBURG – As construction ramps up on the Johnsburg Road project, drivers can expect some slight delays as trucks move in and out of the work zone, the engineering firm said in a release.

Eastbound traffic on Johnsburg Road has been rerouted along Route 31 to Route 120 to Chapel Hill Road, but westbound traffic will continue to travel along Johnsburg Road between Chapel Hill Road and Cherokee Drive.

A map showing the detour route is available at the project website, johnsburgroad.com.

Next week, contractor PirTano Construction Company will begin installing storm sewer at the Spring Grove Road intersection, heading east toward the downtown area, the release said. Crews will also begin cutting down the hill west of Riverside Drive to its new height.

The plan is to widen the road to three lanes – one in each direction and a center lane for turning. Traffic signals will be installed at Riverside Drive and Spring Grove Road.

The second phase will include installation of a roundabout where Johnsburg Road, St. Johns Avenue and Chapel Hill Road meet.
