Residents mistakenly receive electrical program mailing

Numerous Huntley residents received a mailing this week from Direct Energy, the village's electrical supply company, in error.

Residents, who are currently enrolled in the the village's electrical aggregation program, should have only received a postcard that detailed the new electrical rate, effective this August through June 2014. Those residents simply need to do nothing to continue service with Direct Energy.

Residents, who have either moved to Huntley in the past year or opted out of the electrical program last year, should have received information about the program and the choice to opt-out of the program. Those residents need to complete and return the provided form, if they want to opt-out.

Residents, who are currently with another retail electrical company, should have received a letter about the program with Direct Energy and an invitation to enroll in the program.

Excluding taxes and other utility fees, Direct Energy's new supply rate is $0.049 per KWH. ComEd's supply rate from June to September is $0.051 per KWH and increases to $0.0547 from October to May 2014.

For more information, contact the Village of Huntley, (815) 515-5200.
