Cash-funding scheme

To the Editor:

Almost every day, there are articles in the Northwest Herald concerning pension reform and why little if nothing is being done about it in Springfield. Today, June 5, in the “Our View” editorial, the Northwest Herald Editorial Board completely misses the point about why nothing is being done to solve the pension problem. At times, I think that no one wants to come out and say what the real situation is.

Most recently, Speaker of the House Mike Madigan, the real boss in Illinois, sent to the Senate a pension reform bill that he knew would not pass.

The real reason these tricks are going on is that these Democrats in power do not want to offend their public employees. Yes, these public employees for the most part vote for Democrats, and a substantial amount of their union dues goes back to the Democratic Party to ensure future elections of Democrats. It’s really a cash-funding scheme for the
Democratic Party.

In less than 18 months, there will be an election for governor in this state. As soon as daddy, boss Madigan, is sure that his little girl, Lisa, one of the most useless politicians in Illinois, will be elected governor, the pension problem issue will be solved. Until then, he will not risk losing any of the union vote.
