MCC to offer Zumba classes

CRYSTAL LAKE – Stay fit while having fun with two  Zumba classes offered by the McHenry County College’s Continuing Education Department, including a new Zumba Toning class that begins Thursday and a basic Zumba class that begins June 18 at the college, 8900 Route 14.

• Zumba Toning, taught by Tiffany Hafferkamp, takes the original Zumba to the next level by using lightweight toning sticks. This Latin-inspired dance fitness class can help improve muscle tone, definition and strength. Improvements in cardiovascular endurance, muscle endurance, bone density, balance, posture, coordination, joint mobility and range of motion may be experienced, in addition to the prevention of osteoporosis. Class takes place from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, June 13 through July 25, in Room B257. The cost is $49. Use course ID: NHE S31 006.

• in Zumba, a Latin-based dance exercise class, instructor Penny Steffen introduces basic movements, borrowing steps from genres such as cumbia, salsa, reggaeton and merengue. Learn these steps as they are implemented into aerobic fitness training. The class takes place from noon to 1 p.m.  Tuesdays, June 18 through July 23, in Room B257. The cost is $49. Use course ID: NSD S16 018 when registering.
