CHICAGO (AP) — Gov. Pat Quinn's campaign says the Chicago Democrat is focused on working for the people of Illinois, not on politics.

The campaign issued a statement Tuesday after Bill Daley announced he will run for governor in 2014, setting up a March Democratic primary.

Daley is a former White House chief of staff and son and brother of two of Chicago's most powerful mayors. He criticized Quinn for not doing more to solve Illinois' pension crisis or to legalize same-sex marriage.

Quinn's campaign says he has "a strong record of getting things done for the people of Illinois."

They say Quinn fought for the largest capital construction program in state history, has cleaned up Illinois government and continues to fight for a solution to the state's pension crisis.
