McHENRY – An annual fundraiser for FISH of McHenry Food Pantry is looking for local community leaders to step up to the plate – literally.

As part of the fifth Good Guys vs. Good Guys baseball game, organizers are looking for elected officials, spiritual leaders and other VIPs in the community to sign up for 17 “Celebrity At-Bat” slots.

The game will be a showdown pitting the McHenry Police Department and the McHenry Township Fire Protection District against a team of coaches from the McHenry Christian Fellowship Softball League.

The event is scheduled for July 27 at the McHenry Township Park, also known as Albert A. Adams Park, 3703 N. Richmond Road, Johnsburg.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with the opening ceremony starting at 5 p.m.

Raffles will be held every third out.

The McHenry Moose Lodge will be cooking up hot food, the McHenry Knights of Columbus will have a corn roast and a vendor will be on hand to sell dessert.

A donation of a raffle item or cash contribution is required to participate in the “Celebrity At-Bat.”

Those interested in signing up can contact Fire Chief Tony Huemann at the fire station at 815-385-0075.

For participants who can’t run the bases, one of the players will sub in.
