RINGWOOD – Children interested in music or who are 'natural' musicians might be interested in McHenry County Conservation District's most recent program, "Nature Songwriting for Kids."

The program is for children ages 8 to 13 and will be held from 2 to 4:30 p.m. June 30 at Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road, Ringwood.

Songwriter Will Kruger will let the natural surroundings inspire songs. The program will include a hike, writing lyrics, a guided songwriting process and finally grabbing a basic instrument and singing the song that celebrates the wildlife of the park.

Registration and a fee are required by June 25. The program is free for county residents, and costs $5 for nonresidents. Registration is accepted online, by phone at 815-479-5779 for residents only, by mail or walk-in at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road, Crystal Lake.
