CRYSTAL LAKE – Police are searching for a man believed to have stabbed two people, leaving them in critical condition after an attempted homicide Tuesday morning in Crystal Lake.

Crystal Lake police responded to a call at 4:17 a.m. to find two people injured with multiple stab wounds at a residence in the 1500 block of Isle Royal Circle in Crystal Lake.

The 28-year-old woman and her 23-year-old boyfriend were taken to area hospitals in critical condition, according to a police news release.

Crystal Lake Police Cmdr. Dan Dziewior said the names and locations of the victims would not be released while the suspect remained at large. Dziewior said both victims underwent surgery.

Police believe the attack was a domestic violence incident involving Jimmy Bell Jr., a 30-year-old Elgin resident believed to be headed to Indiana or Georgia. Officials said Bell could be driving a red Honda Accord with an Illinois license plate of 5566117.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at 815-356-3620 or a hotline at 815-444-5960. Information also can be left anonymously by texting CLPDTIP to 847411 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 800-762-7867.

“We’ve had some good leads,” Dziewior said. “It’s not a matter of whodunit, it’s a matter of where is he at.”

The McHenry County Major Investigations Assistance Team is assisting in the investigation. Bell is considered armed and dangerous, and any attempt to apprehend him should be handled by law enforcement.
