Magazine subscription employees get court supervision in battery case
McHENRY – Three employees of a door-to-door magazine subscription company were given one year of court supervision after a fight with a fourth employee in the parking lot of a McHenry dollar store.
Police officers responded June 12 to the parking lot of the Dollar Tree, 4400 Elm St., after receiving reports of a battery, Deputy Chief John Birk said.
Devin R. Fadley, 18, of 400 Flannagan St., West Monroe, La.; Ruben Daniel Westra, 24, of 573 Pine Tree Drive, Fond du Lac, Wis.; and Jonathan Charles Trosper, 23, of 97 Old Bishop Farm Road, Arden, N.C. – all employees of Rockstar Subscription Agency – were charged with misdemeanor battery and felony mob action.
In exchange for a plea, prosecutors dropped the felony charges.
The men had gotten into an argument with another employee after they tried to drop him off at the Dollar Tree, according to the police report. The other employee did not want to be dropped off there.
When the argument escalated, the employee was accused of stealing from the company and the men asked to see his receipt pad, the report said.
The employee refused to hand over the pad, so two men held him down while a third punched him and then took the pad, Birk said.
