Woman airlifted after vehicle ran into semi-truck on Route 120

A woman was airlifted to the hospital when her SUV collided with a semi-truck along Route 120 near Fisher Road in Volo.

VOLO – A woman was airlifted to an area hospital Wednesday after her SUV collided with the rear of a semi-truck.

Shortly after 1 p.m., the Wauconda Fire Department responded to the accident on Route 120 at Fisher Road. It took 38 minutes for firefighters to remove the woman from the vehicle, which was pinned underneath the semi-truck.

The woman was conscious and responsive at the scene, according to the Wauconda Fire Department. She was the only person in the vehicle.

She was flown to Condell Medical Center, and the nature of her injuries are unknown at this time, fire officials said.

Route 120 was closed at Fisher Road while officials conducted their investigation. The road has since been reopened.

Island Lake Police, Fox Lake Fire, and the Lake County Sheriff also responded to the accident.
