Centegra launches new cancer program
WOODSTOCK – On Saturday at the Gavers Barndance, Centegra Health System announced the launch of the Centegra Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation program, made possible by a gift from the Gavers Community Cancer Foundation.
The Centegra STAR Program will begin in August, according to a news release. It will offer patients emotional and supportive care.
Program patients will receive individualized, comprehensive cancer rehabilitation treatment to improve symptoms such as fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, joint stiffness, limb swelling (lymphedema), weakness, memory problems, balance and issues with talking or swallowing. This program may be implemented before, during and after direct cancer treatments.
Coordinated rehabilitation will be provided by physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, registered dietitians and mental health, financial, social and pastoral care professionals.
