CRYSTAL LAKE – Two McHenry County hospitals got $360,000 in state healthcare grants as part of a capital construction program.

Gov. Pat Quinn announced the grants Thursday.

Centegra Hospital-McHenry received $157,180, which it will use to relocate and renovate its infusion center. Centegra Hospital-Woodstock received $205,015, which it plans to invest in renovating its radiography and fluoroscopy rooms.

The grants are part of $24.3 million set aside this fiscal year in the Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program to address the critical needs of healthcare institutions outside of the Chicago metro area, according to a press release.

Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville also received $325,525, for a total of more than $687,000 given to McHenry and Lake County hospitals.

“It is crucial that hospitals have the most up-to-date facilities and equipment to deal with the healthcare needs of Illinois residents,” Quinn said. “These grants will help Lake and McHenry County hospitals provide better service to their patients.”

The relocation of Centegra Hospital-McHenry’s infusion center, which is used for chemotherapy treatment, will allow the hospital to house the center in its cancer treatment facility. The grant will also allow the hospital to add two infusion treatment areas.

“It improves patient safety, patient access, and their quality of care,” said Susan Milford, senior vice president of strategy and development for Centegra. “We’re very excited about that.”

Centegra Hospital-Woodstock will be able to relocate and renovate its radiology room that has been in the same space since 1994, Milford said.

Private hospitals have received $150 million for healthcare needs so far under Quinn’s Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program.
