Woodstock will host Oktoberfest at Emricson Park
WOODSTOCK – Traditional food and drink, lively music and plenty of family fun are on the agenda for Woodstock’s Oktoberfest.
The event will be from 5 to 11 p.m. Sept. 13 and from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Woodstock Water Works in Emricson Park.
The Rotary Club of Woodstock and the Woodstock Mozart Festival are co-sponsors, and proceeds will benefit both organizations.
Sept. 13 is “Rocktoberfest,” featuring dance/pop music from local favorites Hans and the Hormones.
The afternoon of Sept. 14 offers the big band sound from Sun City’s Let’s Dance Band. That night’s headliner is the Die Musikmeisters German band. Additional entertainment will be provided by strolling accordionist Mary Ellen Heelan and polka dance lessons from Rosie Lenth.
A performance of hand, rod, string and shadow puppets by Mark Nichols Puppet Place Theater will be the highlight of the children’s activities, which also include a bouncy house, face painting, games and prizes and a sing-along with accordionist Heelan. Adults can participate in the beer stein challenge and a 50/50 raffle.
Tickets are $10 a day each in advance and $12 at the door. Children 18 years of age and younger accompanied by an adult are free.
