To the Editor:
It is my hope that this letter will get printed in order to assure the residents of McHenry that the qualities of chivalry and kindness do still exist.
This was demonstrated recently by four gentlemen living on or near Lillian Street in McHenry. It was a recent Saturday afternoon when my wife was driving our family car on Lillian Street and experienced a tire blowout. A front tire sidewall blew out, and the noise was enough to significantly startle my wife and half the neighborhood.
As my wife maneuvered the car to the shoulder of the road, four gentlemen in the immediate area came running out to see what happened and offer assistance. These kind gentlemen checked to make sure my wife was OK, and then immediately proceeded to change the flat tire.
The task was not easy (a minivan with the spare well hidden under the car), but two of the men figured it out and had the tire changed in less than a half-hour.
These men were kind, courteous, efficient, and asked for nothing in return. My wife and I want to acknowledge this kind act, and recommend them to any race-car owner looking for an addition to their pit crew.
Again, thank you, guys.
