Green Drinks McHenry County to talk solar power
CRYSTAL LAKE – Green Drinks McHenry County, which is celebrating its fourth anniversary, will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Duke’s Alehouse & Kitchen, 110 N. Main St.
This month’s topic is the upcoming solar installation at McHenry County College's Shah Center and solar options for homes or businesses.
The program will include a brief explanation of the upcoming free MCC Power Hours, where participants will learn the basics of solar, find out about site assessments, access list of qualified solar installers, and learn about affordable options. The free Power Hours are scheduled for Sept. 19 and Nov. 14, and will be led by Midwest Renewable Energy Association staff.
Presenters for September’s Green Drinks include Pat Dieckhoff, MCC sustainability specialist, and Kim Hankins, MCC director of sustainability.
In honor of the anniversary, the Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee will provide attendees with a native plant that is important to the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. Supplies are limited, so attendees are encouraged to come early. WPPC members also will be on hand to answer questions.
There will be an information table set up, and attendees are welcome to bring information about their green products and services each month to share. Additional parking is available at the train station.
