Prep Football Insider: Christian Kramer ran for 207 yards
Athlete of the Week
The Hornets running back carried for a career-high 32 times and 207 yards as they defeated Oregon, 20-14, in a Big Northern Conference crossover game Friday.
Kramer ran for a three-yard touchdown in the first half and consistently churned out the yards for Harvard, which moved to 2-0.
Kramer, who run for 970 yards last season, now leads the area in rushing with 298 yards.
Franke out: Crystal Lake South offensive tackle Mike Franke missed Friday’s 14-7 victory at Crystal Lake Central with a hip flexor injury.
Franke (6-foot-4, 285 pounds) is drawing looks from several NCAA Division I schools and is a third-year starter. He thought he might be back for this week’s game against Dundee-Crown.
Quick start again: D-C is 2-0 for the second consecutive year, but things will get tougher for the Chargers this week when they host South.
D-C’s offense has racked up 111 points wins over Elgin (52-12) and Streamwood (59-14). Chargers coach Vito Andriola thinks his backfield with T.J. Moss, Caleb Parson and Cordero Parson, along with the experienced offensive line, will make D-C formidable on offense.
Tough start: The area team off to perhaps the toughest start is Marengo, which has two losses by a combined four points. The Indians lost to Rock Falls, 22-21, on Friday.
