ALGONQUIN – A man had to be extricated from his vehicle after swerving off of Route 31 in Algonquin Thursday.

An elderly man was traveling northbound on Route 31 when his van swerved off the road and into the woods near the Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Department.

The vehicle traveled roughly 360 feet through grass and woods before finally coming to a stop, the sheriff's department said. The man was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Both directions of Route 31 near Lindstrom Lane were closed for a short time as crews extricated the man from his vehicle.
