Four injured in two-vehicle accident near MCC

CRYSTAL LAKE – Four people were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on Route 14 near McHenry County College, Crystal Lake police said.

The Crystal Lake police and fire rescue departments responded to the crash at 11:24 a.m. Monday, according to a news release.

Rachel Leszczynski, 20, of Crystal Lake was headed northwest on Route 14 when she attempted to turn left onto southbound Lucas Road, the release said. She collided with a 2002 Honda Accord headed southeast on Route 14, sending it off the roadway and into a tree.

The driver of the Accord, Michael Nordin, 19, of Woodstock, and his two passengers were taken to Centegra Hospital – Woodstock, the release said. Leszczynski was also taken to Centegra.

Both vehicles were damaged extensively and had to be removed from the scene, the release said.

The intersection was closed for about 30 minutes after the crash.

Leszczynski was cited with failure to yield when turning left.
