BARRINGTON – Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital announced Wednesday that it has raised more than $18 million toward its expansion and renovation project.

During a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday evening, hospital capital campaign co-Chairman Paul and Barbara Hills said donors began giving during the hospital's silent donation phase, which began in May. The campaign hopes to raise more than $25 million by the time the hospital is complete in 2017.

In December, demolition will begin to prepare for the construction of the new buildings. In January, the hospital will initiate construction of the south building – containing the main lobby, conference center, breast center and rehab center – and the North building – containing the inpatient, medical, surgical and intensive care units; new operating rooms; cardiac catheterization labs; and interventional radiology rooms.

The renovated hospital will provide private rooms for all patients, eight new operating rooms with increased capacity and state-of-the-art technology.
