Fairview Avenue sidewalk project set to start
JOHNSBURG – Work on a sidewalk connecting Johnsburg Public Library with nearby James C. Bush Elementary School along Fairview Avenue will start this week.
The project is expected to take about a week, Village Administrator Claudett Peters said.
“This is an important project for the community as it will provide a means for children to travel between the schools and the library in a designated area out of the roadway,” she said in an email.
The Johnsburg Village Board awarded the project to Upland Construction and Maintenance LLC for $21,162. It will pay for the project using funds set aside for it as part of the village’s capital plan.
The library district will be covering the cost of extending the sidewalk from Fairview Avenue into its property.
The library’s board of trustees set aside $40,000 in its budget this year for capital projects, including the sidewalk extension and hooking the library up to the village’s sewer system.
