Illinois politics

To the Editor:

Illinois politicians, for the most part, should be ashamed of themselves.

This state used to be the best to live in in this country. Now, it is in shambles and a disgrace. We, as voters, must share the blame.

We must stop Chicago back-door politics from running this state. The pension system and the veterans’ programs are a laugh. Chicago’s Michael Madigan and John Cullerton should not control the entire state. We must adopt term limits. There has to be compromise. If an elected representative can’t fix it, vote him out. The longer they are in office, the more hands get in their pockets.

Most of this once great state is in complete dysfunction. If these elected officials can’t make it right, elect new ones until they can.

As long as politicians don’t have to follow the same rules as we do, this will never change. How can they say, “We think this is right for you, but I am exempt to do as I please”?
