McHENRY – Volunteer Center McHenry County will bring in Bruce Matthews of Campbell and Co. to speak on “Increasing Fundraising in the New Economy” from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 22 at 4508 Prime Parkway.

Matthews’ presentation will include defining an organization and its case for private support in today’s fundraising environment; the fundraising infrastructure and the role of the volunteer; and best practices in major and planned gift fundraising.

Matthews joined Campbell and Co. in 1999 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., where he managed a staff of 50 and helped craft the strategy for a comprehensive campaign.

Previously, he spent eight years as the senior development officer in the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s College of Engineering. While there, he was involved with the university’s first comprehensive campaign, the $475 million Campaign for Wisconsin, and helped organize the College of Engineering’s $100 million Vision 2000 campaign.

Check-in and networking will run from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
