Chef Debi: Crisps are healthy way to still have your dessert

My weekly clients often want desserts, but being on a special diet or just wanting to eat healthier, they find many desserts are off limits. I came up with this healthy dessert recipe for them. 

4 cups fresh blueberries, raspberries and blackberries

Juice of 1/2 a lemon

1 tablespoon raw sugar

 1 cup almond meal

1 cup organic oatmeal 

1/2 cup pecans, chopped

1/2 cup coconut oil, melted (can substitute butter)

1/4 cup pure maple syrup, grade B

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Wash the berries and place evenly in a 9-by-9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the lemon juice over the berries and evenly sprinkle the raw sugar.

In a medium bowl, combine the almond meal, oatmeal, pecans, coconut oil, maple syrup, cinnamon and salt. Spread the topping evenly over the berries.

Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the fruit is bubbly and the topping is golden.
