Big Northern Conference East Division

Harvard (7-0, 4-0) at Genoa-Kingston (4-3, 4-0)

When: 7 p.m. Friday.

About the Hornets: Harvard has a shot at its first BNC East title since 2007 and its first unbeaten season since 1988. RB Jose Mejia has 580 yards rushing and RB Christian Kramer has 497. The Hornets are No. 9 in The Associated Press Class 4A poll this week.

About the Cogs: QB Griffin McNeal has thrown for 973 yards and RB Sal Lopez leads G-K with 665 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. The Cogs’ losses came to St. Edward, Rockford Lutheran and Winnebago in non-division games.

North Boone (3-4, 2-2) at Richmond-Burton (5-2, 3-1)

When: 7 p.m. Friday.

About the Vikings: North Boone has lost three of its past four games. QB Nathan Bodey has thrown for 949 yards and rushed for 334. WR Jon Lilly leads the team with 21 receptions for 474 yards and four touchdowns.

About the Rockets: R-B has won four consecutive games and still has a shot at part of the BNC East title. RBs Brad Boelkow (511), Luke Brinkmann (457) and Vince Battaglia (444) give R-B a balanced rushing game.

Marengo (0-7, 0-5) at Rockford Christian (0-7, 0-5)

When: 7 p.m. Friday.

About the Indians: Marengo has its best shot to end its 15-game losing streak here against the Royal Lions. Sophomore QB Zach Knobloch has thrown for 515 yards and RB Dakota Kissack has run for 368 to lead the Indians.

About the Royal Lions: Rockford Christian has been outscored 312-62 and is 1-15 since joining the BNC last year.

Fox Valley Conference Fox Division

Woodstock (1-6, 1-3) at Crystal Lake Central (6-1, 4-0)

When: 7:15 p.m. Friday.

About the Blue Streaks: Woodstock lost to Hampshire, 48-7, one week after its first win of the season. WRs John Kruse (34 receptions, 466 yards) and Jordan Sumner (29, 531) are the Streaks’ leading receivers.

About the Tigers: RB Ryan Williams has 584 yards for sixth among area players. WR Jack Ortner leads the area with 57 receptions and had another huge game last week against Woodstock North with eight catches for 236 yards. A win clinches a share of the FVC Fox title for the Tigers. Central is No. 8 in Class 6A.

Johnsburg (1-6, 1-3) at Hampshire (5-2, 3-2)

When: 7:15 p.m. Friday.

About the Skyhawks: Johnsburg lost to Crystal Lake South, 34-7, last week in an FVC crossover game. QB Nick Brengman has thrown for 948 yards and seven touchdowns with seven interceptions. WR Alec Graef (24 receptions) is the Skyhawks’ leading receiver.

About the Whip-Purs: Hampshire scored 90 points combined in its past two games, the most the Whips have scored this season. RB NIck Kielbasa leads the area by a wide margin with 1,011 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Woodstock North (1-6, 1-3) at Grayslake Central (3-4, 1-3)

When: 7:15 p.m. Friday.

About the Thunder: North has gotten decent production from RBs Jordan Plummer (626 yards rushing) and Grant Wade (444). The defense allowed 88 combined points against Hampshire and Crystal Lake Central, two of the division’s best teams, in the past two weeks.

About the Rams: Grayslake Central narrowly lost to crosstown rival Grayslake North, 24-21, last week. RB Malcolm Reed leads the team with 500 yards rushing.

Fox Valley Conference Valley Division

Jacobs (5-2, 4-0) at Huntley (4-3, 2-2)

When: 7:15 p.m. Friday.

About the Golden Eagles: Jacobs can clinch a share of the FVC Valley title with a victory. The Eagles have won five consecutive games, the past two on drives that ended games. WR Hunter Williams has caught 41 passes for 528 yards and RB Josh Walker has 526 yards rushing.

About the Red Raiders: Huntley has won back-to-back games after a stretch of three close losses. The Raiders may need six wins to make the playoffs, so this could be crucial to their postseason chances. RB Mitch Kawell is third among area backs with 659 yards rushing.

Crystal Lake South (3-4, 1-3) at Cary-Grove (4-3, 4-1)

When: 7:15 p.m. Friday.

About the Gators: South has won two of its past three games, but needs two more wins to qualify for the playoffs. Eric Landis (384 yards) and Chris Ivers (305) lead the team in rushing. South’s defense has allowed 117 points, second-lowest among FVC Valley teams.

About the Trojans: C-G lost to Jacobs, 36-35, in the final minute last week, halting its four-game winning streak. FB Tyler Pennington has 599 yards rushing and averages an area-best 149.8 a game. The Trojans’ defense had allowed 27 points total in their four-game winning streak.

McHenry (2-5, 0-4) at Dundee-Crown (5-2, 2-2)

When: 7:15 p.m. Friday.

About the Warriors: McHenry has struggled after a 2-1 start with four consecutive FVC Valley losses. QB Mike Briscoe has 977 yards passing and WR Kyle Postal leads the team with 19 receptions.

About the Chargers: D-C likely needs another win to make the playoffs since its first two opponents – Elgin and Streamwood – are winless. The Chargers lost to Prairie Ridge, 42-0, but can rebound to grab their first postseason berth since 1994 with a win. RB Caleb Parson leads the team with 559 yards rushing.

Suburban Christian Conference Blue Division

St. Edward (5-2, 3-2) at Marian Central (5-2, 3-2)

When: 7 p.m. Friday.

About the Green Wave: St. Edward won by big scores against Chicago Christian (53-6) and Wheaton Academy (60-21) the past two weeks. St. Edward lost to IC Catholic, 21-17, a team Marian defeated 49-17.

About the Hurricanes: Marian fell out of the Class 5A rankings after a 40-35 loss to top-ranked Montini. QB Billy Bahl leads the area with 1,896 passing yards and RB Ephraim Lee has 667 rushing yards, second in the area.

Northeastern Athletic Conference

Alden-Hebron (5-2, 5-2) at. North Shore Country Day (1-6, 1-6)

When: 1 p.m. Saturday.

About the Giants: A-H scored 28 unanswered points last week to beat Kirkland Hiawatha, 28-8, and get its fifth victory. The Giants want to improve their playoff seed here with another win. RB Nate Peterson ran for 477 yards and RB Nick Beck has 389. Beck should return after an ankle injury.

About the Raiders: North Shore has been outscored, 238-24, this season. Its only win came against Christian Liberty, 16-12.

Nonconference

Grayslake North (6-1) at Prairie Ridge (3-4)

When: 7:15 p.m. Friday.

About the Knights: North’s only loss came to Crystal Lake Central, 35-6. The Knights held off Grayslake Central, 24-21, last week. QB Merrick Gentile and RB Titus Booker lead the Knights offense.

About the Wolves: Prairie Ridge defeated Dundee-Crown, 42-0, last week, an offensive outburst that doubled what it had scored in the previous four games combined. RB Brent Anderson (324), QB Brett Covalt (321) and FB Zack Greenberg (305) lead the Wolves in rushing.
