Prep Football Insider: Lee sets the tone
Athlete of the Week
Marian Central, Senior
Lee helped the Hurricanes set the tone right away in their IHSA Class 5A first-round playoff game at Bremen with a 67-yard touchdown run on their first play from scrimmage.
No. 9-seeded Marian scored at will against the No. 8 Braves in a 42-8 victory. Hurricanes coach Ed Brucker rested his starters for the second half.
Lee finished with nine carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns. That put him well past 1,000 yards rushing for the second consecutive season. Lee (6-foot-2, 195 pounds) is being recruited by numerous NCAA Division I schools and has Harvard, Yale and Holy Cross at the top of his list.
Career-best: Dundee-Crown junior running back Caleb Parson had a huge night in the Chargers’ first playoff game since 1994 on Friday night.
Parson carried 36 times for his varsity career-best 184 yards and both D-C touchdowns in a 35-13 loss to Oak Park-River Forest in the Class 8A playoffs. He ran for both Chargers’ touchdowns, runs of 49 and three yards.
