Woman caught on video stealing puppies

NAPERVILLE — Two suburban Chicago pet stores are looking for a woman they say was caught on surveillance video stealing puppies.

The incidents occurred about 30 minutes apart Friday at Petland stores in Bolingbrook and Naperville.

In both cases, employees say a woman asked to see a small white puppy. The woman then distracted employees before putting the puppies in her bag and leaving.

Employees say the thefts appear to have been committed by the same woman, who had blonde hair and was wearing a striped scarf.

The puppy taken from the Bolingbrook store was a 14-week-old white Maltese named Hercules. The Naperville store reported a 10-week-old white Havanese puppy named Casper was taken.

Police are reviewing the video footage. The puppies are valued at about $3,500.
