McHENRY – Charities serving McHenry County should register now to participate in the 2014 McHenry County Human Race.

Registration may be done at www.mchumanrace.org.

This 5K walk/run allows race participants to designate a participating organization to receive the proceeds of their race registration fee and any fundraising they do.

The upcoming Human Race will be April 27, in McHenry’s corporate park. More than 1,000 racers are expected to participate.

Volunteer Center McHenry County provides $2,400 in prize money for agencies, including the $600 McHenry County Community Foundation Award to the organization with the most runners and walkers, and the $400 Illinois State Bank Award to the top fundraising organization.

In its first three years, the race raised $222,000 and helped more than 57 organizations.

On Dec. 1, registration opens for runners and walkers with an “early” registration fee.

For information about the Human Race, go to the website or call 815-344-4483.
